Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per bend Gules and Tenn, in dexter a forging hammer erect Or, in sinister four lightning flashes crosswise Argent, a bend of the third charged with a bayonet Sable; on a chief Azure a demi-sun of six rays of the third bearing an arrowhead point up of the first. Attached around the bottom of the shield is a Black tripartite scroll inscribed "SOSTENGA" "EL" "COMBATE" in Gold.

Symbolism
Blue, orange, and red represent the former units that have formed the present Special Troops Battalion: Signal, Artillery, and Engineers, respectively. Gold is emblematic of excellence and high ideals. The stylized sun and arrowhead highlight the unit's history with the 40th Infantry Division. The bayonet, representing Infantry, underscores the unit's mission of supporting an Infantry Division. The lightning flashes, pointing to the four major directions, refer to communications and quick response to all points of the globe. The forging hammer signifies strength and the forging forward no matter where to build up the Command Post defenses and support. The motto translates to "Sustain The Fight."

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 3 December 2008. It was amended to correct the description on 28 May 2009.
